Once the blade edge is sharp and pristine, you should remove any other oxidisation marks from the metal surfaces of the knife. To eliminate these stains, gently buff the affected areas with a liberal spray of WD-40® Multi-Use Product, and some damp fine grit sandpaper. If the stains are tough, spray with some additional product, and leave it to penetrate the rust for around five minutes. Continue this process until you are happy with the results.
To ensure the blade stays rust free, you should finish with a final spray of WD-40® Multi-Use Product, to form a protective barrier on the surface of the metal. Remember, if the knife is used for food preparation, you should wipe away any excess product before use. However, if the knife is for other uses, you can leave the product on for longer lasting protection.
