We understand no one enjoys getting their hands dirty when it comes to cleaning the bathroom. But, over time you can experience the build-up of unsightly limescale. It isn’t a pretty sight, nor is it the healthiest thing to have around.
Limescale often settles on shower walls, faucets, sinks and other surfaces in contact with tap water – and it can be a real nuisance. Perhaps it’s just the hard water that’s causing it, and the problem has been overlooked for a couple of weeks or months now. Whatever the reason, it’s important to remove limescale even if you don’t live in the bathroom 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Yes, we know of that excuse, too. There are several home or industrial solutions to remove limescale – and you guessed right, WD-40® Multi-Use is one of these practical and fast solutions!
Here are some simple and effective methods to get you going:
For light limescale stains, white vinegar is your must-have ally! To use it, simply mix the white vinegar with water in equal amounts in a sprayer. Then, apply the mixture to the surface to be treated and rub with a clean cloth. If, however, you do not have a sprayer, you can simply prepare the mixture in a container and soak the cloth directly into it. Then, rub the stains and traces with the soaked cloth. Top Tip: For tap tips or head showers, we advise you to unscrew them and soak them in a vinegar and water solution.
Baking soda can also be a good go-to in this situation. Like WD-40® Multi-Use Product, this product offers a thousand and one useful properties for maintenance. To remove limescale stains with baking soda, simply mix three tablespoons of bicarbonate with one tablespoon of water. The mixture should be a little pasty. Then, apply it to the stain to be treated and allow it to dry. With a brush, rub the treated area until removed.
WD-40 Multi-Use Product is the ultimate go-to against stubborn stains! Indeed, one of its main functions is to eliminate residues, so it adapts very well to limescale stains. The process is simple and fast, you simply need a clean cloth and your trusty blue and red can. Spray the product on the area to be treated (shower wall, faucet, glass, etc.), rub the stains and wipe with a clean cloth. And as a bonus, its ability to flush moisture will provide longer-lasting protection.
To avoid steps 1 to 3, and remove limescale stains, you can prevent it altogether. Just make sure you wipe each surface when it comes in contact with water. For example, as soon as you finish showering, wipe the shower walls and tap with a dry cloth or towel. You can do the same in your sink after the dishes. This solution is timely but inexpensive – and it works!
