Saturday marked the start of the 2018 BTRDA Season and with it, the start of WD-40 rally and Stephen Petch’s Defence of the BTRDA Gold Star championship title.

The 2018 Championship kicked off in Llandudno, North Wales for the 2018 Cambrian Rally. The event is back on the Calendar this season after adverse weather saw the postponement of the 2017 event! After a small test session on Friday, Stephen Petch and the WD-40 Rally team were ready to kick off the 2018 season in the famous Blue and Yellow car!

As 2018 Gold Star Champions, Stephen and Co Driver Michael Wilkinson had the honour of leading all 120 cars and Drivers off from the picturesque Llandudno seafront for the start of the rally and the start of the 2018 Season.

After a slightly sluggish start to the rally on stage one, Stephen was quickly up to speed on stage. He posted one of the fastest times of the day on stage 2! Stephen then carried on this hot run of form into the next 4 stages of the rally. He firmly put himself and the team into serious contention for the win in the First event of the Season!

It all came down to the final tricky stage of the day, set in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park! Stephen posted a quick time in his Ford Fiesta WRC but this was just beaten by Paul Bird. (Also in a Ford Fiesta WRC!) Stephen and WD-40 Rally finished the event in an overall 2nd position. A podium place and a solid start to the 2018 season!
