After hours of use, proper maintenance of your exercise equipment is essential for your safety and wellbeing. Just like an ordinary bike, your exercise bike takes a lot of impact during use. It should therefore be properly maintained often to prolong its lifespan. So, how do you fix your exercise bike?
Carrying out exercise bike maintenance and cleaning after each use is important to keep it functioning properly! Not sure how to maintain your indoor cycle? You’re in luck. Continue reading this blog to find out how to care for your bike like a pro.

Before you carry out your thorough exercise bike maintenance, you should ensure your spin bike is clean and sanitary. As sweat can damage some materials, it is important to remove any residue after each workout. As well as this, you should regularly clean the rest of your exercise bike. This is to prevent damage from dust, dirt, liquids and grime.
To clean your spin bike, first disconnect your equipment from any electrical outlets. Then, wet your entire bike with a damp sponge. Using WD-40 Specialist Bike Cleaner (yes, this can be used on exercise bikes, too!) spray the entire damp exterior surface of your equipment and work the product in with the sponge. Once you are happy, use a clean microfibre cloth to remove any remaining grime or product, and dry the bike accordingly. Your indoor exercise bike will be clean as a whistle in no time!
If your exercise bike is equipped with a chain, we recommend maintaining this regularly to ensure it stays in tip-top condition. Remove any external covering and examine the entire chain for signs of damage. If you’re happy with the quality of the chain, you should lubricate it to maximise its performance and elongate its lifespan!
Using WD-40 Specialist High Performance Silicone Lubricant. Spray the entire length of the exercise bikes’ chain, rotating the pedals to ensure the whole chain is exposed to the product. You can leave this product as it is, just wipe away any additional liquid to reduce mess! This will ensure the chain rotates smoothly, reducing friction and squeakiness in the process so your spin bike chain won’t slow you down.
If your exercise bike has resistors, you may have to check them and carry out maintenance every so often. To do this, you simply need to tighten the correct cable. Check with your manufacturer’s instruction manual to see how to do this.
When you are using your bike regularly, you may find that some screws may become loose, causing a loss of stability. We recommend checking all screws on your exercise bike around twice a year. Tighten them with a screwdriver if needed. You should also check the stability of the feet of your bike, which can be adjusted with a wrench if needed.
To finish your exercise bike fix, you should lubricate all moving parts to optimise its overall performance. Using WD-40 Multi-Use Product, spray any areas that have moving elements, including the seat height adjuster, the pedals, handlebars, and adjustment knobs. This will help to ensure the exercise can operate at its maximum performance, helping you hit your workout goals without any issues with your exercise bike getting in the way.
