Chewing gum. Your best friend when you find yourself in need of minty fresh breath, but have you ever accidentally walked chewing gum into your carpet from the sole of your shoe? Then that tasty friend becomes your worst nightmare. Gum is notoriously one of the hardest things to remove, from carpets to your car seats – but we have a solution for you. Keep reading to discover how to get chewing gum out of carpet.
Let’s get going! Firstly, spray a generous amount of WD-40 directly onto the gum. Let it sit on the gum for a few minutes. This will help the gum dislodge from the carpet fibres.
Next, use the fingernail brush to remove the gum, scrubbing in the same direction. If needed, reapply some more WD-40 and continue scrubbing. Repeat as much as needed.
Once the gum is removed, we recommend using a carpet cleaner to remove the stain. Rinse a clean sponge with warm water and gently dab the area until the stain is no longer visible.
