Copper is a popular, affordable material used for jewellery, and it’s 100% eco-friendly too! So, this makes the metal even more admirable- because I’m sure we’re all about keeping green!
However, when compared with expensive materials, copper can tarnish over time, and nobody wants that. Unfortunately, copper can tarnish when it’s is exposed to chemicals, as well as moisture too. For this reason, we advise you to keep on track with protecting it, and this guide will explain exactly how. Moreover, it’s also important to avoid wearing any jewellery in water and store it in an area away from moisture.
This straight- forward guide will explain how to protect your Copper jewellery correctly, to help you keep your valuables in the finest condition. Follow these simple steps to keep your jewellery maintained, and help to prevent it from losing its lustre.
First of all, gather your copper jewellery and your chosen copper cleaning solution. Depending on your chosen product, you may want to place your jewellery in a small bowl. However, this entirely depends on the product.
Then, follow the instructions on the cleaning solution very carefully-these will be displayed on the products label.
Don’t worry, if you chose a suitable product designed for use on copper, your jewellery will not get damaged.
Next, remove the jewellery from the solution and place it in a clean bowl. Then, rinse this under warm running water, take the jewellery out, and wipe dry with a clean microfibre cloth.
Now that your copper jewellery is completely dry, it’s time to apply the handy WD-40 product. The flexible metal straw is perfect for reaching tight spaces and targeting all the nooks and crannies. It’ll also help to make sure all areas are covered and protected!
You may want to place your valuables onto a clean towel to protect your surface because we don’t want to make a mess!
Now, generously, spray the product onto your copper jewellery.
Take the second, clean microfibre cloth, and use this to gently massage the product into the copper jewellery in circular motions. This will help to shine your treasured belongings, and remove tarnish.
Give your jewellery a good rinse under warm running water to remove any product left. Make sure to keep the plug in the sink to stop you from accidentally dropping any items down it. That wouldn’t be good!
Now, lay your jewellery on a clean surface to allow it to air dry. You may want to place them on a tea towel.
