Football Table has been a popular party game for decades, with tables being passed down through generations of families. To keep your table in tip-top condition, you should carry out football table maintenance regularly. Find out how to clean your foosball table and more with this handy guide, five spare minutes, and a little help from WD-40® Brand.
Screwdriver
Wrench
Microfibre Cloth
The first step in football table maintenance is to clean the bars that hold and move the players. Using soapy water and a clean sponge, gently wipe over any dust, grease, or spilt liquids. If the bars are too greasy to clean without damage, grab a handy bottle of WD-40 Specialist® Degreaser, apply a spritz to a microfibre cloth, and massage the area until the grease is dislodged. This will allow you to remove the greasy residue from your foosball table without damaging the bars through force.
Note: Do not use Degreaser on plastic or rubber components.
Now that your bars are clean, you should lubricate them to ensure they move smoothly and without sticking when playing. This will help to reduce damage due to friction. To do this, use WD-40® Multi-Use Product, lightly spray all of the bars and work the product in using a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid spraying any product onto the felt base of the table by placing a piece of newspaper under the bars to protect the fabric. Once you are happy with the coating, wipe away any excess product.
Now that your bars are clean and lubricated, you should give the rest of the table the once over. Start by checking everything is in working order. Tighten all screws that appear to be loose with a wrench or screwdriver. Once you have secured the table, you should also check that the base of your table is flat. This is vital foosball maintenance and ensures the game is fair! To do this, place a ball in the centre of the ‘pitch’, and see if it rolls by itself. If it does, adjust the orientation of the table to balance it out.
Now you have carried out football table maintenance and secured and balanced the base, you should ensure it is clean and dirt free to get the best game experience. Using a vacuum cleaner with the small brush head extension, pass over the entire ‘pitch’ to suck up any debris, dust and crumbs. If you notice any stains in the process of vacuuming, you can go ahead and use a cleaning product of your choice and a microfibre cloth to work away the substance. Ensure you patch test your cleaning product on an inconspicuous area before using it on the visible pitch, as it may not be compatible with the mat material!
