WD-40 is an essential part of your car toolkit! There are more than 2000 uses in general – here are just a few to help keep your car in tip top condition throughout the year!
WD-40 Keeps Dead Bugs Off
Think Men in Black and the opening dragonfly scene! Dead bugs everywhere! Now imagine that the truck had WD-40 sprayed on the windscreen and across the grill… No bug smears obstructing views, the flies would have slid off!
In addition to preventing bugs from sticking, you can also use WD-40 to help remove bugs that are already stuck on the windscreen, or bird poo and general grime on your car. WD-40 won’t damage your paint; just remember to rinse it off with soapy water afterwards.
WD-40 Lubricates & Maintains Spark Plugs & Other Parts
Dirt and Dust can build up around your spark plugs over time, this can affect their performance. WD-40 removes carbon residue and keeps moisture away from spark plugs and spark plug wires.
WD stands for Water Displacement, so if your spark plugs are wet or you need to drive moisture away from ignition distributors, for example, WD-40 is a product you should have handy!
Ensure the engine is off and cool and spray WD-40 Multi-Use Product on a clean, soft cloth and rub over the chosen area or spray the spark plug wires and the inside and outside of your distributor cap with WD-40.
Using WD-40 to repel water from spark plugs, distributors, alternators, and batteries is a good way to prevent corrosion and keep moisture away. You can also use it to ease the removal of spark plugs, especially if there is any rust or corrosion.
WD-40 Cleans Number Plates
WD-40 (so we are told by our followers and you’ll also note by Reader’s Digest) is pretty useful for cleaning up your car’s number plate! Whether you’ve got tree sap, dead bugs (again) or salt from the road on it, or you just want it to shine, WD-40 will clean it easily. Just spray it on, wait for it to soak in, and wipe it off with a rag, then rinse with soapy water. Repeat if necessary.
