When you want a job done well, sometimes you have to call in the Specialists. That’s why we’ve formulated our WD-40 Specialist range. It features a line-up of go-to products designed to help tradesmen, professionals and contractors alike with those everyday specialist tasks.

Today we’ll be shining the spotlight on our incredibly useful and efficient Anti Friction Dry PTFE Lubricant.

Let’s start by breaking down the tech speak. PTFE stands for polytetrafluoroethylene, which is a type of synthetic fluoropolymer. As that’s a bit of a mouthful (and not easy to fit onto a can!) it’s abbreviated to PTFE. Most of us will know it from its brand names; Teflon, trademarked when it was discovered by DuPont back in 1938, and later Tefal, used by a French engineer. (On his wife’s cooking pans to create the first non-stick cookwear!) These days PTFE is part of our daily lives. From non-stick frying pans, to stain and crease-resistant school uniforms and waterproof clothing. But it’s in the workplace that PTFE’s usefulness shines through.

Our Anti Friction Dry PTFE Lubricant packs all the benefits of PTFE into a quick setting spray that can be used for any number of applications. Once applied it quick-dries as a clear film, creating a coating that repels dirt, dust, and other residues. Use it to lubricate hardworking components like cogs, bearings, chains, rollers, hinges and conveyor belts. WD-40 Anti Friction Dry PTFE Lubricant will keep these mechanisms running smoothly for longer.

The anti-friction qualities make it perfect for load-bearing components. It works great on chains, hoists, hinges and door tracks where weight-bearing may be a factor. It’s also useful for domestic doors and windows too. The fast-drying properties make it ideal for use on outdoor and indoor locks, hinges and tracks. There’s minimal run-off, and no nasty residue to wipe away.

Get ready to discover a huge range of applications that go far beyond those of a generic wet lubricant spray.

We often think of lubricant as a maintenance product, but it can be just as useful for daily tasks too. For example on drill bits as you work; simply spray our PTFE lubricant onto drill bits before you start a task. You’ll not only drill through materials such as plastics, glass and metal quicker, but with cleaner results and no swarf to clean off the bit either. The anti-friction solution can even help make drilling more efficient. You’ll save time, energy, and get more work done before you have to change batteries or recharge cordless tools.

Anti Friction Dry PTFE Lubricant is also safe to use on woodworking tools, and makes an excellent lubricating barrier for saw blades as it helps repel sawdust and wood chips that would otherwise clog up saw teeth and impact efficiency. And no matter how much of a sweat you work up, you won’t outpace our spray, which has a working temperature of -45°C to +260°C.

Maintenance is, of course, a really important use of our PTFE lubricant, and regular application will help protect against daily wear and tear, extending the life of components, tools, engine parts and machinery. Our Anti Friction Dry PTFE Lubricant is safe for use on both plastic and rubber, meaning it’s perfect for protecting rubber hoses and plastic seals from deterioration over time. Prevention is better than cure in all aspects, so ensuring that you have a regular programme of effective maintenance will go a long way to helping you avoid costly pay-outs for replacing worn out tools and parts.

We’re constantly finding out new uses for our Anti Friction Dry PTFE Lubricant – did you know it also makes an incredibly effective mould release agent? If you’ve discovered any further uses for our PTFE Lubricant, or just want to tell us how you use it day-to-day, then get in touch.
